The prestigious Productivity SA Awards, honour organisations for their contribution to building South Africa’s productive capacity. Permoseal were one of four nominees shortlisted in the Corporate sector. The other nominees were PEP Clothing, TRW Automotive and The Invisible Card Company. Says Lenore Viljoen – “It was a great honour receiving the award and knowing that Permoseal is contributing to South Africa’s socio-economic development and competitiveness.”
Entries for the award are short-listed according to a rating system and nominees are selected based on impact achieved from productivity and its sustainability.
Permoseal takes part in the Workplace Challenge (WPC) programme offered by Productivity SA as a means to improve their competitiveness by implementing Best Operating Practice and World-class Competitiveness.
The basics of the programme include a World-Class Management System, Goal Alignment, Cleaning & Organising, Teamwork, Leadership as well as basic Cost/Productivity improvement techniques, Delivery / Speed Improvement Techniques and Quality Improvement Techniques.
The program has created transparency within the business where targets are clear and are rolled out to the shop floor level, this makes shop floor staff more pro active with problem solving and has led to innovations that save the company money and are good for the environment.
