The objective of the competition is to introduce young minds to the field of engineering and 25 teams from 25 schools competed in this year’s Algoa Branch Competition.

THS Daniel Pienaar were the 1st place winners, with TH Newton and Oakhill High School taking 2nd and 3rd place.

The teams were given limited materials to work with, including Alcolin Super Glue which was sponsored by Permoseal and the bridges had to be built according to strict specifications.

Teams also used cable ties as clamps while waiting for the glue to dry, which we thought was incredibly innovative.
