From humble beginnings and a limited range, Permoseal, best known for their household brand names Alcolin and Bostik, has become a major player in the South African adhesive industry in the past 60 years.
From a small range of locally manufactured automotive products and a single adhesive – Alcolin Cold Glue – to a nationwide manufacturer and distributor of high-performance adhesives, wall and floor coatings, sealants fillers and innovative stationery products; Permoseal has certainly ‘grown into herself’. 60 Years on, this ‘born and bred’ South African company is still built on innovation, quality, mutual respect and trust.
Quick fact file
Permoseal introduced the first ever, multi-purpose cold glue into South Africa in 1954 and to this day Alcolin Cold Glue remains a best seller.A licensing agreement with Bostik Ltd in 1999 added a whole new dimension and provided a platform for Permoseal to expand its influence into the stationery market.
Permoseal boasts an advanced research laboratory in Montague Gardens, Cape Town, with eight other branches nationwide and employs over 300 people.Over the years they have won numerous supplier awards, including ‘Supplier of the year’ from Timbercity and Shoprite groups.
Always evolving, Permoseal responded to the need to become more environmentally conscientious and in 2008 introduced an industry first ‘green’ product, a water-based carpet & vinyl adhesive with low volatile organic compound (VOC) that makes it safe for the installer and environmentally friendly.
Over the years the Bostik brand has become synonymous with stationery, from basic essentials for school and office to glitzy accessories for art & craft projects, one would be hard-pressed to find a home or office without a Bostik product.
Permoseal not only offers quality products, but strives to provide the highest level of product support with their much-used toll-free helpline for both consumers and retailers.
