Alcolin Protective Top Coat is a UV resistant, non-yellowing, self-crosslinking single component water based acrylic coating that cures to a hard wearing, abrasion resistant and chemical resistant gloss finish that is easy to clean, making it ideal for sealing of cementitious and water based epoxy floors in interior and exterior applications in high traffic areas such as warehouses, factory and residential garage floors. Alcolin Protective Top Coat can be used in conjunction with Alcolin Epoxy Floor Paint as it provides an additional transparent protective coating. It also provides an excellent final wearing surface for cement-based screeds and self levelling screeds.

Pure acrylic – UV resistant and non-yellowing.
High alkaline resistance – Suitable for application onto cementitious surfaces.
Single component – self crosslinking, easy to apply.
Abrasion resistant – improves floor durability.
Gloss finish – improves floor aesthetics and washability
Hard wearing – reduced black heel marks and hot tire pick up resistance.

Other Information

Not suitable for use over dimensionally unstable flooring i.e. vinyl and wood flooring.
Not suitable for use in areas subject to rising damp.
Not suitable as a coat for solvent based and solvent free epoxy systems.
Do not apply in temperatures below 5°C or above 35°C.

Application data

Touch Dry:
Approx. 1 – 2 hours (25°C and 50% humidity)

Full Cure:
24 hours

Overcoat time:
Approx. 1 – 2 hours (touch dry)

Coverage/5L:
Approx. 30m² depending on the nature of the surface. Porous surfaces will have a lower mileage on first coat application.

Surface Preparation

For best results, concrete floors should be clean, solid and properly prepared before applying epoxy floor paint. Direct application over an existing epoxy coating or old paint is not recommended. Previously painted surfaces should be mechanically abraded and all existing paint removed, with the floor prepared back to a clean, solid bare concrete surface before application. Proper floor preparation is essential for strong adhesion, a durable finish and long-term performance. ALCOLIN CONTRACTORS FLOOR SCREED is a grey, cement-based and protein-free self-leveling screed which can be used as a single component system with water or as a twin pack system using a liquid additive such as ALCOLIN LATEX BOND for enhanced adhesion, flexural strength and water resistance. It is designed to provide excellent flow properties, self-smoothing characteristics, rapid walk on times and good adhesion to a variety of substrates. It is ideal for use when an economical screed is required as a flat foundation for tiling onto afterwards.

Low shrinkage, reducing risk of developing hairline cracks.
High compressive strength.
Protein free, resisting microbial attack. Ideal for use in hospitals.
Excellent self-levelling properties making it easy to achieve desired level finish.
Prepare, repair and level uneven, internal floors prior to floor-covering installations e.g. laying of carpets, vinyl or tiles, etc.
Suitable for application to concrete and sand or cement screeds.
