Bitumen Primer

ALCOLIN BITUMEN PRIMER is a quick-drying bitumen solution specifically designed to improve adhesion of surfaces with waterproofing bituminous compounds. Alcolin Bitumen Primer can be used to seal and prime concrete, masonry and timber surfaces prior to the application of torch-on waterproofing membranes (where appropriate) and bitumen coatings.

Not suitable for potable drinking water tanks
Bitumen compounds tend to bleed through and discolour paints subsequently applied over it. Apply a primer recommended by the paint manufacturer before painting

ALCOLIN SLURRY KIT is an all-in-one cementitious-based waterproofing system. It forms a flexible and highly water resistant barrier that can be used as a primer between old and new cements. Alternatively, it can be used as a keying surface for screeding, tiling or finishing cement plasters – ideal for internal use (e.g. showers) and external use (e.g. balconies).

ALCOLIN SLURRY KIT has excellent adhesion to cement and concrete surfaces, porcelain tiles, mosaics, ceramic tiles, natural stone, marble, travertine, glass tiles, terrazzo, semi and vitrified tiles (providing that the requirements are met in the surface preparation).

ALCOLIN BITUMEN WATERPROOFER is a highly flexible bitumen emulsion which can be used in conjunction with Alcolin Membrane to create a highly effective waterproofing system. It is non-toxic once dried and is ideal for waterproofing flat roofs, gutters, flashings, water reservoirs and koi ponds.

The product can be cold applied to vertical and horizontal surfaces and once dried; it forms a tough, durable and flexible waterproof barrier.

Waterproofing of flat roofs, parapets and flashings
Waterproofing of ponds and water reservoirs
Sealing of joints between different roofing materials, gutter joints, and roof screws

Other Information

Tools and brushes must be cleaned immediately after use with water and soap
Do not apply if temperature is below 5°C
Do not apply onto damp surfaces
Bitumen compounds have poor UV resistance and therefore must be over coated with paint if exposed to sunlight or UV rays. Due to the tendency of bitumen compounds to bleed through and discolour paints applied over them, we recommend that one over coats with Alcolin Silver Coat or Alcolin Vinoseal. If a colour matched acrylic paint is used, apply a primer recommended by the paint manufacturer before painting.

ALCOLIN SILVER COATING is a reflective bitumen paint that is used to protect bitumen membranes and systems against UV degradation. The paint contains aluminium pigments which reflect UV and thereby enhance the durability of the bituminous waterproofing system.

Alcolin Torch-on is a plastomeric waterproofing membrane that is manufactured in an advanced and continuous process by saturating and coating a synthetic carrier with a waterproofing compound made of a special grade of bitumen, which is modified with APP polymers.

Roofing or re-roofing sloped and flat protected roofs.
Waterproofing of underground structures.
Waterproofing of wet areas, mechanical rooms and terraces.
Alcolin is used for exposed applications or as a cap sheet in a multi-layer system.

Other Information

Must not be applied to damp surfaces or while it is raining
Do not apply to fresh plaster or concrete, unless primed with a thin bitumen solution
Plaster and concrete should be at least 1 year old
Should not be over-painted with enamel paint
Not suitable where there is a negative water pressure e.g. on the outside of a concrete water tank
ALCOLIN VINOSEAL will yellow and discolour on UV-aged bitumen compounds but not negatively affect the performance of the product, apply to fresh bitumen instead
